Allow IE to execute javascript from a local file

By default, IE6 blocks javascript execution from a local HTML file and asks whether to allow 'blocked content'.

To allow local execution :

Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab -> Allow Active Content
There are two boxes there to be checked :
  • one is for the PC
  • one is for the CD Drive.
